Joan Shaw Memorial Kiosk dedication

Sky-Hi News Staff Report

On Saturday, July 9 Grand County Wilderness Group (GCWG ) will dedicate the Joan Shaw Memorial Kiosk at the Junco Lake Trailhead at noon. The money donated to the GCWG Joan Shaw Memorial Fund was used for the design and production of the panels on this kiosk. A short ceremony will be led by Marshall Heath followed by light refreshments.

“Joan Shaw was an inspiration to so many,” said Diana Lynn Rau. “She was somewhat flamboyant in a wonderful way that made anything she did delightful to those that listened to her ‘performances’ and was infectious in her enthusiasm to try things and try harder. I for one looked up to her as my inspiration.”

Directions:

Take County Road 84 off of US Highway 40 (one mile south of Tabernash and four miles north of Fraser). Take the left fork towards Meadow Creek Reservoir. Follow the road around the north end of the Reservoir to the Junco Lake Trailhead. Parking is limited, so carpooling is recommended.
