Put on your running shoes and get to the starting line of the Kremmling Classic Race on Saturday.

The Kremmling Classic offers a 10-, 5- and 3-mile fun walk/run courses that start and finish at Kremmling’s Town Square Park beginning 8 a.m. The event is part of this weekend’s Kremmling Days celebration.

The Classic’s 5-Mile Course climbs up toward the Kremmling Cliffs and makes a four-mile loop with spectacular views of the Muddy River and surrounding mountains.

The race features both single track and two track dirt trails.

The Classic’s 10-Mile Course has an additional northern loop with one long climb. It then ties back into the 5-mile course before venturing along the top of the Kremmling Cliffs and descending back to Town Square.

The 3-Mile Fun Run/Walk has a course that travels on single and double track trails. This race will not be a part of the points series.

Registration on Saturday is at the Town Square Park. Participants can also register in advance by going to Active.com.

The Kremmling Classic is the second race of the 2008 Center of the Universe Trail Running Series. The other races in this year’s series include:

– The Road Kill Half-Marathon and 5-Mile Race is planned for Saturday, Sept. 13.

The start and finish for both the 13- and 5-mile courses is at the Town Square.

– The Gore Grind 6 Mile is slated for Sunday, Oct. 12. The start and finish areas are located on County Road 14.

The 2008 “Center of the Universe” Trail Running Series is sponsored by the Kremmling Chamber of Commerce, Big Shooter Cafe and the local office of the Bureau of Land Management. The race organizers are Shawn and Stephenie Scholl, the owners of the Big Shooter Cafe in Kremmling.

A major goal of the trail running series is to help introduce the public to the Kremmling area as an excellent place for a number of recreational activities.
