Kremmling: Gore Grind caps trail-running series

The sixth and final race of Kremmling’s 2007 “Center of the Universe” trail-running series is slated for this weekend.

The Gore Grind 6 Miler takes place this Sunday, Oct. 7. The race starts at 9 a.m. at the base of County Road 14, located one mile north on U.S. Highway 40. The race ends six miles up County Road 14. The runners are responsible for getting back to their cars.

The course is gradual for the first two miles and then climbs for the remaining distance for a spectacular view of the Continental Divide and the Colorado River Valley. The race will be run on a hard-packed, quiet county road.

The Gore Grinder 6 Miler is the final race of Kremmling’s “Center of the Universe” Trail Run Series that has showcased the area’s unique terrain.

The event Web site http://www.RunKremmling.com features links to GPS maps for all the trail runs, information about registration, starting and ending locations, age groups and prizes.

The Center of the Universe Trail Runs benefits the Kremmling Area Chamber of Commerce. Proceeds from the races are used to promote the local community and its businesses.

The Center of the Universe Running Series is possible because of a partnership between the Chamber, Bureau of Land Management, Big Shooter Coffee and the Kremmling Memorial Hospital District.
