Michel, Carey, Bourgoin, Irving compete this week in Sun Valley

Four local athletes qualified to race in the Junior Freestyle/Freeskiing Championships in Sun Valley this week, March 7 to 13. They were invited based on points from competitions this season.

Sage Michel, 13 from Tabernash is in the freestyle program at Winter Park Resort’s Competition Program. She has been competing since she was 7 years-old.

Hunter Carey, 13, from Fraser has been with the Winter Park Competition Center since 2010. He will be competing in Halfpipe and Big Air.

Nate Bourgoin, 14 will be competing in skier slopestyle, half pipe, and big air. He has been with the Winter Park Competition Center full-time academy for two years, working with head coach Jeremie Livingston and coach Hayden Arscott. Nate’s hometown is Newtonville, MA and lives in Winter Park for the winter season. He is in 8th grade at East Grand Middle School.

Svea Irving, 14 from Winter Park is in 8th grade. She will be competing in Halfpipe, Slopestyle and Big Air.
