Middle Park High School wrestling results

Last Saturday was a good day for Middle Park Wrestling as Panther wrestlers finished seventh of 17 teams at the Lewis-Palmer Tournament in Colorado Springs.

Four Panther Wrestlers finished in the medals: Brandon Strang stormed through the 112 pound weight class, winning four matches to take the championship; Shelby Garrett, 145 pounds, Nathan Birdseye, 152 pounds, and Brian Macchione, 189 pounds, all finished in second place.

Conor Peters, 112 pounds, Sage Wall, 125 pounds , Mitch Steffen, 145 pounds, Cody Garrett, 160 pounds, and Greg Griffon, 160 pounds, wrestled tough but failed to place.

“The Lewis Palmer Tournament is a good test for our kids because we are the smallest school there. There are a lot of solid wrestlers there with many different styles,” said coach Cal Cherrington.

“If you are going to compete you better be ready to wrestle. We evaluate our performance by how many matches we lose that we should have won. Today we did not have that happen.”
