Middle Park Homecoming kicks off Sept. 29

Homecoming is upon us once again. During the week of Sept. 29, Middle Park will play host to a variety of sporting events and show their Panther spirit.
Behind all the fun and games, a lot of work has to be put in to making Homecoming week a success.
Homecoming week is easily the busiest time for the members of Student Council. They hold a number of responsibilities that help the week run smoothly. These students help with the planning of the Homecoming dance, they plan dress-up days, and they help find teachers willing enough to referee the Powder Puff and Ironman games.
“We are basically the behind the scenes crew that makes everything happen,” said Senior class co-president Will Colley.
Along with Student Council, the Cheer team at Middle Park has an important week ahead. It is their job to instill some spirit into the students at Middle Park, and that is a trying task.
They also have a kiss a pig fundraiser that will run over the course of the next week. The money will be used to help pay for their upcoming competition season, so if you want to see your favorite Cheerleaders kiss a pig help support their cause.
“We are really looking forward to supporting our Middle Park athletes this week and hope everyone shows their Panther spirit,” Senior co-captain Jo Quinn said.
The festivities begin on Monday, Sept. 29, with Spirit Day and spirit assembly. Tuesday evening, Sept. 30, is when the week really kicks off. The boys soccer team will host Jefferson, and the girls volleyball team will host the Denver School of Science and Technology in their annual Breast Cancer Awareness Game. Both events begin at 4 p.m..
Immediately following the conclusion of the volleyball game is Ironman. Boys will put their volleyball skills to the test in a grade on grade match up.
Wednesday, Oct. 1, consists of an away volleyball game at Clear Creek, as well as an away Cross Country meet at Dakota Ridge. Thursday, Oct. 2, is another eventful day. Powder Puff begins at 7 p.m. Come watch the Senior and Sophomore girls take on the Junior and Freshmen girls in a riveting game of flag football. The annual Homecoming Bonfire will also occur on Thursday night after the end of the Powder Puff game.
Friday night is football night! The Middle Park Panthers will take on Pinnacle for what is sure to be an exciting match-up. Homecoming king, queen, and attendants will be crowned during halftime, and fifth quarter will go on as usual after the end of the football game. The game is Oct. 3 at 7 p.m..
Saturday, Oct. 4, is the final day of Homecoming week. Middle Park will be hosting the League Cross Country Meet at Snow Mountain Ranch beginning at 9 a.m.. The volleyball team will travel to Battle Mountain for a tournament and the boys soccer team will battle Sheridan at home at 11 a.m..
To cap off a great week is the Homecoming Dance, which will begin at 8 p.m. and will finish at 11 p.m..
The community is encouraged to support their local high school athletes on any of these dates. Show your panther pride with purple and white.
