Mud Race added to Kremmling Days lineup
Engines will roar and mud will fly as racers push their cars to the limit in the 1st Annual Mud Race being held at the Middle Park Fairgrounds in Kremmling on Sunday, June 22. Presented by Maximum Horsepower Racing, the Mud Race is slated to start at 10:30 a.m. Blown alcohol vehicles with up to 2,000 horsepower will be competing. The public is encouraged to attend the Mud Race, which is part of this weekends Kremmling Days celebration. Admission to the Mud Race is $10 for adults and free to children under the age of 10 who are accompanied by an adult. The competitors in Sundays race will be vying for a $2,000 purse in the open class and a $1,000 purse in the modified class. In the pro stock, super stock and stock classes, the racers will be getting a 100 percent payback.Registration for racers is from 7:30-9:30 a.m. Sunday. The $40 entry fee includes two pit passes or a racers family pass for $50. All others wanting pit passes will pay $20. For those considering entering the Mud Race, its class definitions are: Stock Licensed and registered. 0-33 inch DOT uncut tires. Vehicle must have all DOT-approved glass and must be street legal with the exception of open exhaust only. Vehicle must also have full operational lights. One passenger is allowed. Super Stock 0-37 inch DOT uncut tires, OEM injection only, pumped gasoline or diesel fuels only (no nitrous), no aluminum heads, OEM transfer case in stock location only. Vehicle must have all DOT-approved glass. One passenger is allowed. Pro Stock 0-40 inch uncut tires. Engine swaps allowed. A transfer case must be used. No after-market frames are allowed. Vehicle must have functional hood and doors. Vehicle must have two pieces of glass. No aluminum heads or nitrous allowed as well as four-link, coil over or exotic suspensions. Modified 0-44 inch DOT tires. Engine swaps are allowed and a transfer case must be used. No after-market frames or nitrous are allowed. No passengers are permitted, and a helmet and Seat belt are required. Open classes (limited entry) The rules require as a minimum that the vehicle must have some type of body with a roof or wing, but anything else goes. No passengers are allowed. Helmet, seat belt and kill cable are required.The 1st Annual Mud Race is a fundraiser for the 2008 Middle Park Fair & Rodeo which will be held Aug. 4-10.
