Panthers Dominate Clear Creek 48-32
Grand County CO Colorado
Bouncing back from a tough 41-36 loss to undefeated Denver Christian Crusaders (13-0), the Panther boys dominated in their league contest over Clear Creek Gold Diggers on Tuesday night. Clear Creek came into the contest ranked first in the Frontier League with an 11-3 record having won seven straight. On paper, led by 6’7″ Lucas and 6’6″ Cosby, the Gold Diggers looked likely favorites but the Panthers would have none of that. Jumping out to an early 16-8 lead, the boys never trailed as they dominated in nearly every statistical category. Led by Junior Johnny Stensvad and Senior Cort Brennan, Middle Park once again showed why they have given up the fewest points in the league this season. Using tough man-to-man defense and a full-court press, the Middle Park boys stifled the Gold Digger offense and forced many turnovers. “Defense is the key for us,” commented Coach McElroy after the game. “We seem to be able to turn it up another notch at some point in the game and is has meant the difference this season.”
A lot of credit has to go to the hard work of Sam Little, Adam Weaver and Ben Eaton. According to the coach, the speed and quickness of these three gives the Panthers a big edge when it comes time to put on the press. The win raises Middle Park record to 10-4. The Panthers go on the road to Bennett Thursday for their next league match.
