Panthers finish 5th, 9th in Minturn race

The Panthers Nordic skiers competed in their last regular season race on Saturday, Feb. 8, at Minturn.

Rowen Gallagher completed the 5K race in 38th place. Sarah McClain crashed and was not able to finish. Mackenzie Deplata did not compete due to illness, and Katja Della–Libera was unable to race. The girls ended up in 9th place.

In the boys, perennial top skier and senior Steve Simmons finished 16th. Theo Loo finished 20th with Logan Miauyachi finishing in 22nd. Overall the Panthers finished in 5th, defeating leading favorite Summit High School.

Next up will be the state finals this Thursday and Friday, Feb. 13 and 14, at Eldora Mountain above Nederland. Middle Park has qualified 7 boys and 3 girls.
