Panthers head to State Cross Country Championships
The Colorado High School 3A Cross Country State Championships will be held this Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Penrose Arena in Colorado Springs.
This year the Middle Park High School Panther boys qualified for the State meet after finishing fourth overall as a team at the Regional Cross Country Championships held in Delta on Friday Oct. 21. The MPHS boys were ranked seventh at Regionals and their fourth place finish secured the team a spot at the State Meet.
During Regionals Ty Scholl took second place while Eric Berry took eleventh place with other Middle Park runners placing or scoring personal best times.
The lady Panthers also performed well at Regionals going into the meet ranked sixth and taking home fifth place. Unfortunately for the ladies their fifth place team finish did not secure a state berth. The lady Panthers barely missed qualifying for State though as a fourth place finish at Regionals would have sent them on. The top runner for the MPHS lady’s squad at Regionals was Alyssa Petersen, who finished nineteenth individually.
The Panther boys will compete this Saturday beginning at 11:20 a.m. They are currently ranked 15th out of 20 teams going into the race. Good luck Panthers.
