Prep sports recap: West Grand keeps undefeated streak alive while Middle Park isn’t so lucky; Panthers soccer stays strong

It was a tough loss Friday for the Middle Park Panthers who were on a three-game winning streak prior to stepping on the field against Denver’s D’Evelyn High School. The home game ended with a 0-14 loss for the Panthers.

With the loss, Middle Park moves to 3-2 on the season. The Panthers next host the Bennett Tigers on Friday, Oct. 5. The Tigers go into the outing with a record of 4-2.

The following week, on Oct. 12, the Panthers will head into their homecoming game, against Denver West, beginning at 7 p.m.

It’s a 6-0 season for the West Grand Mustangs as they continued their winning streak on the field against Rangely on Friday, with a 20-6 win against the Panthers.

West Grand will next take the field for their homecoming game against Hayden, starting at 7 p.m. Oct. 12 in Kremmling. Hayden will enter with a 3-2 season standing.


The Middle Park High School boys soccer team defeated Bruce Randall on the road in a 4-3 overtime thriller on Saturday, bringing their winning streak to three games.

The Panthers won the past two home games against Pinnacle with a 3-1 final score and against Skyview Academy in a 2-1 overtime victory.

At 4 p.m. Wednesday, the Panthers will face Bennett High School at home and then Saturday is the team’s homecoming game against Arrupe Jesuit, with junior varsity playing at 11:30 a.m. and varsity playing at 1:30 p.m.
