Jeremy Mercier, 40, is a Tabernash resident who moved to Grand County to snowmobile. He is a professional snowmobiler who is sponsored by Ski-Doo.
“My role is to promote snowmobiling. I take a lot of advanced training classes and I am an ambassador to the sport,” he said.
Mercier grew up in northern Michigan and started snowmobiling at 3-years-old. In 1994 he moved out west and lived in Vail for four years. In 2008 he moved to Grand County.
“Grand County is a great county to do all kinds of fun activities. All the people get along and play well together in the backcountry. It’s everyone’s playground.”
Some backcountry areas were closed in Vail because of conflicts, he said.
“You just don’t see that here. There’s something special here.”
With snowmobiling season coming to an end shortly, Mercier will be spending the summer mountain biking and hiking.
