The Winter Park Big Mountain team will be competing in two separate competitions on Saturday and Sunday Feb. 27-28 in the Cirque Territory at Winter Park Resort. This is a great opportunity to go watch up-and-coming freeskiers and snowboarders on their home terrain. The competitions start at 10 a.m. and the venue will be different each day.
Big Mountain competitions are unique: the terrain is steep and difficult, and the scoring is different than most ski races and competitions. If you have never seen an event like this go show some support for the next generation of extreme skiers and riders on terrain many people do not know even exists at Winter Park
Day One will be held on the South Headwall and Day Two will be held in the Alphabet Chutes. The event will be judged by the governing body of freeskiing competitions, the IFSA. There will be a spectator area and all are encouraged to cheer on the Winter Park Team. But it must be advised that the Cirque Territory is all expert terrain and difficult to access for an inexperienced skier.
