Three local wrestlers qualify for state meet

Two Middle Park and one West Grand wrestler have qualified for the Colorado State High School Wrestling Championships that begin on Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Pepsi Center in Denver.

Middle Park’s Adam Visconti won the 3A Region 1 title at 152 pounds on Saturday in Granby to advance to his third trip to the state meet. Visconti placed fifth at 132 pounds at last years’s championships.

Middle Park’s Justin Halley took second place at 285 pounds at the regional and will make his second trip to the state championships.

West Grand’s Travis Etler took third place at 195 pounds at the 2A Region 1 tournament in Grand Junction on Saturday to earn a trip to Denver.

The state championships continue through Saturday.
