Winter Park’s Hideaway Park hosts skateboard demo and clinic Saturday

Skateboard daring and skills will be on display during the clinic and demo being held at the Hideaway Skate Park in downtown Winter Park on Saturday. Jack’s Board House Team, one of the premier skate teams in the country, will be putting on Saturdays clinic and demo from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the park. The event is free of charge.Organizers of the skateboarding event are encouraging the public to attend to check out the demo and learn some new tricks at the clinic. They say there will be music and fun.The sponsors of the event are Winter Park-Fraser Valley Chamber, town of Winter Park, Fraser Valley Recreation District, Jack’s Board House, Globe, Bacon, Concrete Rodeo, Powder Tools, The Viking Lodge and the Sky-Hi Daily News.Saturdays clinic and demo by Jack’s Board House Team is the first of three skateboarding events planned at the Hideaway Skate Park. All three events are family-friendly with an emphasis on skating fun. Each date will have a unique twist with varied skate-related activities, vendors and live music. The other two clinics planned this summer at the park in downtown Winter Park are: Thursday, Aug. 7 Concrete Rodeo. The event is from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30 High Altitude Battle of the Bands and Boards presented by Sky-Hi Daily News and the Grand County Blues Society. The event is from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.The August 7 event will be a national tour stop for the Concrete Rodeo skate competition. Visit for information on how to participate in the Rodeo. Eight age groups, all abilities, men and women welcome. Anyone can register to skate. There is a $25 fee to compete in the Rodeo. Plan to stay after for the free music of High Note from 6-8 p.m. that Thursday. The August 30 High Altitude Battle of the Boards & Bands is the Hideaway Skate Park finale event of the summer. The Battle of the Bands will be providing great music for the free skating event. All of this summers clinics and demos are free except for the Concrete Rodeos $25 registration fee who want to compete.
