Sky-Hi Daily News
Grab your fishing pole and get out to the Kremmling area on Saturday for the 5th Annual Wolford Mountain Reservoir Open Water Fishing Contest.
This year’s contest is offering $2,000 in cash and door prizes. Only one prize will be awarded to any entrant and only registered anglers can win.
Contestants can fish from either the shore or a boat. The prizes will be based upon the total weight of two fish caught by a registered angler during the contest’s hours that run from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Prizes will be awarded at the Wolford Recreational Fish Cleaning Station at 4:30 p.m. The fishing contest prizes are: first place, $600; second place, $300; third place, $200; fourth place, $100; and fifth place, $50.
In the event of a tie between anglers with the identical weight in fish, the entrant who weighed his fish first on Saturday will be declared the winner.
More than $1,000 in door prizes will also be given away to registered anglers. These include annual passes and merchandise prizes provided by Kremmling-area businesses.
Saturday’s fishing contest on Wolford Mountain Reservoir also has a Kids Division. Prizes will be awarded for first through fifth places. Participation trophies will be given to all registered children.
The entry fee is $25 per adult. Children ages 15 and under are free. Children may pay and enter as an adult to become eligible to win any of the adult prizes including the first-through-fifth cash prizes.
Proceeds from the contest will go to the fish stocking program at Wolford Mountain Reservoir. Catch-and-release is encouraged Saturday.
Registration begins at 5 a.m. Saturday at the Fishin’ Hole in Kremmling at their new location at the southwest corner of the Town Square. Anglers can also register at 5:30 a.m. at the Judging Station at the Wolford Recreational Fish Cleaning Station Area.
