Spring storm brings snow to Grand County
Grand County residents are cleaning up branches and trees weighed down by wet snow from a May storm. The power is out in some rural areas.
Colorado’s central mountains, the foothills west of Denver and the northeast part of the state felt the brunt of the spring storm that unleashed rain and snow Tuesday.
The National Weather Service says 11 inches of snow was reported near Jamestown in Boulder County as of early Wednesday, and there was about an inch of precipitation reported at Denver International Airport. Some areas around Grand Lake are reported to have received as much as 18 inches of snow.
National Weather Service says there’s a chance for more rain or snow in the Denver area each day through Saturday. Snow showers are likely today, mainly after noon. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. Tonight, snow showers are likely, mainly before midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
