State Patrol: Tabernash accident was not fatal

The rumors of a fatal traffic accident near Tabernash on Thursday morning are false.

According to the Granby office of the Colorado State Patrol, a car lost control near the intersection of U.S. Highway 40 and County Road 86 and slammed into a snowbank.

The driver’s side door was crushed and rescuers had to use the “Jaws of Life” to pry the door open.

The driver of the car was badly bruised in the accident. He was initially transported to 7-Mile Clinic at Winter Park Resort for treatment, but was later transported by EMS ambulance in a non-emergency status to St. Anthony’s Central Hospital in Denver.
