State wrestling update: WG’s Hill and MP’s Macchione advance to semifinals

West Grand’s Chase Hill advanced to this evening’s semifinals of the 160-pound weight class of the 2A Colorado High School State Wrestling Tournament after pinning Teagan Overturf of Ignacio in a quarterfinal match this morning at the Pepsi Center in Denver. Hill will face Blake Bartlett of Peyton.

Middle Park’s Brian Macchione advanced to the semifinals at 189 pounds in the 3A tournament after defeating Casey Couch of Berthoud by major decision 11-3. Macchione will meet Shay Hansen of Brush this evening.

Middle Park’s other wrestlers didn’t fare as well. Adam Visconti was pinned by Drew Romero of LaJunta in their quarterfinal match. Visconti moves on to the consolation bracket where he will face Reece Alles of University.

Brandon Strang was edged 4-3 by Aaron Cisneros of Jefferson in their quarterfinal match. Strang also goes to the consolation bracket where he will face Dalton Rupe of Hotchkiss this evening.

West Grand’s Lloyd Coleman was eliminated from the tournament after being pinned by James Hess of Yuma in the consolation round.
