Sky-Hi News Staff Report

On Thursday, Feb. 18 four EGMS students, Lela Myers, AnnaLiese Jensen, Jayden Bergen, and Henry Kacik attended Legislative Day at the Capitol in Denver. Students wrote essays on legislation of their choice in order to be chosen as Legislative ‘Shadows’. This is the 17th year for this event. Seventy eight of 100 Legislators agreed to take on shadows for the day. Legislators paired with EGMS students were; Rep. Carver, Rep. Becker, Rep. Joshi, and Senator Baumgardner.

Students were able to sit on the floor of the House or Senate with their legislator while bills were debated and voted on. Later in the day, students attended committee hearings with their Legislator. During a break students climbed 60 stairs to the dome balcony!
