Summit County sheriff appreciates Kremmling’s help with search

To the Editor:

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the family and friends of John McKibben, Craig Morris and Murray Maloney, who assisted the Summit County Search and Rescue Group during the mission that occurred on Jan. 29.

The cooperation and support of the Kremmling community was phenomenal. The search and rescue efforts were enhanced by family members and other local volunteers who were familiar with the Elliot Ridge trails. Their experience and knowledge of the area was most helpful in establishing search perimeters.

The employees, owners and residents of Spring Creek Ranch, Shadow Creek Ranch and Blue Valley Ranch offered their equipment, food, shelter and Internet services to the rescue group members and civilian volunteers. The generosity and unselfishness displayed by members of the community was overwhelming.

On behalf of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office and the Summit County Search and Rescue Group, I would like to offer my deepest condolences to the family of John McKibben. Judging by the outpouring of love and support by the community, he will be sorely missed.

John G. Minor

Sheriff, Summit County
