Winter Park Resort is reporting 8 inches of new snow over the last 24 hours, and it might not be too long before there’s more white stuff on the mountain.

With 83 inches of snowfall this season, the resort now has 19 of 23 lifts running with 66 of 166 trails open.

Sunday’s snowfall was on the high end of the forecast from Joel Gratz of OpenSnow.com. In his latest update Monday morning, Gratz explained how the storm dumped 6 inches during the day Sunday before dropping another 2 inches in the evening and overnight.

Looking forward, Gratz expects that Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be dry with highs in the 20s before a series of storms delivers another punch Thursday night through Sunday.

“Snow totals should be near or above one foot, and the best chance for the deepest powder should be on Saturday and Sunday,” Gratz predicted, adding that he should have more details in the coming days.
