Superior woman arrested in death of infant son

SUPERIOR, Colo. (AP) – A 34-year-old woman from Superior has been arrested on suspicion of killing her 6-month-old son.

Stephanie Rochester was taken to the Boulder County Jail Tuesday evening, hours after she and her husband brought their son to the hospital. They said they found the baby unresponsive in his crib.

Sheriff’s Cmdr. Rick Brough says efforts were made to resuscitate the child but he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

Some neighbors said Rochester had been experiencing some post-partum depression but that she adored her baby.

Investigators are treating the case as a homicide as they await a ruling on the cause of death.
