Suspect in Grand County Building Dept. theft seeks public defender
March 2, 2015
The continuing legal saga of Brigid Irish took an interesting turn Friday Feb. 27.
Irish was in District Court Friday and appeared before Judge Mary Hoak for an arraignment. During her appearance Irish informed Judge Hoak she has submitted a letter to dismiss William Frankfurt as her attorney. Frankfurt also appeared in court Friday to formally present his motion to withdraw from the case.
Irish will now seek legal representation from a public defender. Judge Hoak informed Irish she would need to fill out the proper paperwork to determine if she qualifies for a public defender.
Because Irish has dismissed her legal counsel but has no replacement counsel her case was continued until a later date.
Irish stands accused of misappropriating more than half a million dollars in Grand County Building Dept. funds.
Irish is set to be back in court for an arraignment on Monday March 9 at 2:45 p.m.
