Suspect in Littleton school shootings due in court
GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) – A man accused of shooting two students at a Colorado middle school is due in court for a preliminary hearing.
Bruco Strong Eagle Eastwood is accused of opening fire Feb. 23 outside Deer Creek Middle School, not far from the site of the deadly 1999 shootings at Columbine High School. Two students were wounded before teachers tackled Eastwood. Sheriff’s officials haven’t released a motive.
According to an affidavit, Eastwood told investigators of a history of hearing voices.
Eastwood faces charges including attempted murder. A preliminary hearing was scheduled Tuesday for a judge to consider whether the case should proceed. Eastwood is being held in lieu of $1 million cash bail.
