Suzi Maki named 2008 Grand County Realtor of the Year
Suzi Maki of Re/max Resorts of Grand County-Grand Lake office was totally surprised about her selection as Grand County Realtor of the Year. This honor is overwhelming. It was so unexpected. I felt like I had won an Academy Award but had forgotten my notes for the acceptance speech. Tears of joy were my first reaction, she said.According to Janene Johnson of Coldwell Banker, a past winner, who presented this prestigious award to Maki at the recent Grand County Board of Realtors 2008 Officers/Directors Installation dinner held at Devils Thumb Ranch, The Realtor of the Year (ROTY) demonstrates professional achievement, commitment to excellence and outstanding service to the real estate profession and our Realtor associations and members, and extensive community involvement and volunteerism. Suzi is an outstanding choice for ROTY. She has earned GRI, CRS and e-pro certification which demonstrates her commitment to real estate with these advanced certifications. Suzi has donated years of active volunteer service to our local Realtor Board including serving on our Multiple Listing committee and now serving on our Board of Directors. She is President-elect, explained Johnson. Maki is a donor to the Colorado Association of Realtors (CAR) Political Survival Fund and works closely with CAR committees and projects, according to Amy Dorsey, CAR President-elect and Patty Brave, CAR Mountain District VP, who also participated in the dinner meeting. Suzi has also donated literally years of continuous community service. A few examples are for over seven years she has been a volunteer for the Winter Carnival, five of those as Chair or being the Head Honcho or Big Kahuna in-charge of making sure it happens, according to other volunteers. Maki was a founding member for the Fall Festival-volunteering every year since 2001, three of which she chaired it. She served two years as President of the Elementary School Parent Advisory Council. Suzi enjoys her volunteer work with various local and theatrical organizations, including serving as Board and Advisory Board member of the Rocky Mountain Rep Theatre, Arts Council Cabin Fever Follies, Art & Architectural Tour, and other local projects sponsored by the Grand Lake Recreational District. She has acted in three Melodramas, the Trail of Terror, Bedoin Babes and Troublesome Gals. Maki really enjoys the Grand Lake area Rubber Ducky Races, too. She has volunteered for over 12 years in her community. With a real estate business motto of Honesty & Integrity with a Sense of Humor, Suzi Maki can now add Realtor of the Year to her very impressive resume.
