Swift Communications buys Steamboat Pilot & Today, Craig Daily Press

Colorado Mountain News Media (CMNM), a division of Swift Communications, the owners of the Sky-Hi News and Summit Daily News will acquire the Steamboat Pilot & Today and Craig Daily Press, from Kansas-based WorldWest. The announcement was made to staff last week.

The 131-year-old paid weekly Steamboat Pilot & Today publishes on Sunday, and is complemented by the free daily Steamboat Today and a number of glossy magazines. Its website, http://www.exploresteamboat.com, has national reach with visitors to the renowned vacation destination area. The nearby Craig Daily Press has paid circulation of 1,700 and publishes 4x weekly.

The transition will officially take place on August 1.



Swift Communications is based in Carson City, Nevada. The company owns regional and local publications in California, Nevada, Colorado, Utah, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Swift Communications specializes in serving mountain resort communities with daily newspapers, as well as large, national circulation and glossy magazines and a number of online products.
