Lincoln Trio opens Grand County Concert Series 10th season
The Lincoln Trio, Chicago’s most celebrated chamber ensemble, opens the season for Grand County’s classical music series at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18.
“This is a season not to be missed and the first concert clearly showcases the level of talent audiences can expect to hear this year,” said Judy Smith, president of the Grand County Concert Series.
The Trio takes its name from their home, the heartland of the United States, the land of Lincoln. The trio’s polished presentations of well-known chamber works and their ability to forge new paths with contemporary repertoire has led to the group’s reputation as a first-rate ensemble. The Lincoln Trio draws an eclectic audience of sophisticated music lovers, young admirers of contemporary programs and students discovering chamber music for the first time. They were the winners of the 2008 Masterplayers International Competition in Venice, Italy.
Each member is an artist of international renown. Violinist Desiree Ruhstrat has performed throughout the United States and Europe, appearing at the White House and performing on a live radio broadcast with the Berlin Radio Orchestra.
Cellist David Cunliffe has performed with the BBC and Royal Scottish orchestras as well as touring as a member of the Balanescu Quartet.
Pianist Marta Aznavoorian has appeared with the Chicago Symphony and has performed at the Kennedy Center and the Sydney Opera House.
Season ticket packages are $90 for six concerts.
“Season ticket holders are an important part of the support for the concert series,” noted Smith.
In addition to presenting superb musicians, the concert experience in Grand County features the intimate venue of the Church of the Eternal Hills in Tabernash. Each performance is an opportunity to listen to music and then meet the artists at a complimentary dessert reception afterwards.
In keeping with the goal of making classical music accessible to a wide audience, the Concert Series has priced individual tickets for each performance at $20. To make the concerts affordable for families, students with a Grand County Student ID are free and adult(s) with the Grand County student are $5 each. Tickets for other students are $10.
