Take part in Taking Steps for Cancer 5K race/walk

Meg Soyars Sky-Hi News
The nonprofit Taking Steps for Cancer will host its last fundraiser of the year, to support Grand County residents battling cancer. Community members can help raise funds by taking part in the nonprofit’s 5k walk/run Sept. 24 in Grand Lake.
The event is held in fall each year, so participants can enjoy the vibrant changing colors of aspen trees as they race (or walk) around the picturesque town. The event includes Grand County’s largest live and silent auctions as well.
The race begins at 10 a.m., with auctions, food, drinks and live music afterwards. This year, local band Martin & Taylor will play rock and country tunes. Attendees can enjoy lunch at the historic Daven Haven Backstreet Steakhouse.

- Packet pickup and walk-in registration: Sept. 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Grand Lake Firehouse (pickup also the morning of the race).
- Walk-in registration: 8-10 a.m. before race.
- Race starts: 10 a.m.
- Silent auction: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
