Tegan Davis was a wonderful ski coach, too

The letters to the editor concerning Tegan Davis’ possible termination caught me by surprise. The letters were written by people who know her as the Youth Services Librarian at the Granby Library. I would like to say something on Tegan’s behalf as one who worked with her when she was a USSA ski coach for the J5 Team program at Winter Park Resort.

She was my assistant coach for four ski seasons and I have never met anyone who could connect with kids on an intuitive level like Tegan. She added to this natural talent by working hard at developing her skills and knowledge base as a coach throughout her tenure at the Competition Center. She left the program a couple of years ago yet many of the young athletes that she used to coach still ask about her.

It am not intimately familiar with issues concerning her employment at the Granby Library. However, the fact that Tegan was awarded a fellowship to study for a master’s degree at DU as her dismissal is under consideration is a paradox that defies good public relations.

As one reader noted, she would even be willing to work part time. Compare this to the recent news about pay raises for Town of Granby employees. I would hope (for their own sakes) that the powers that be would reconsider her employment status at the Granby Library.
