The Roofing Company in Granby conducted its annual safety day Friday, May 10. The day is devoted to reviewing common safety procedures that people in the roofing industry regularly encounter, including harness, fire, ladder and vehicle safety.

The local business puts on demonstrations and group activities for its employees. These include games that involve inspecting harnesses, teambuilding, conducting mock rescue scenarios and going over regulations. CPR classes are also a part of the safety day.

“Safety day is a huge event for our company,” Kenzie Lipe said, who is a sales and marketing coordinator with the Roofing Co. “We focus largely on recovery in the case of a fall, and we even had a speaker from Petzl come out to give a safety briefing to our roofers.”
