Frigid cold and rainy conditions tried to play spoiler at Winter Park Resort on Saturday, but visitors to TheBigWonderful Festival were unperturbed. Despite the weather, and for some, because of the weather, the bluegrass, beerfest and bazaar went off without a hitch, drawing big numbers to the resort to enjoy craft brews, artisan shops and live music.

“We were looking up some things to do, found this and decided to come out and take a look,” said Don Pleiss, who was visiting from Omaha, Nebraska with his wife Lori. “We’re not skiers, but we came to the mountain to have a good time. This has been really fun.”

More than 30 shops, breweries and distilleries came out for the festival from all over Colorado, and visitors participating in the beerfest were treated to unlimited tastings.

In the afternoon, guests were treated to some classic bluegrass tunes from That Damn Sasquatch and headliner Trout Steak Revival.

“We didn’t even know this was going on when we came out,” said Kayla Anderson from Denver. “And the weather turned out to be not so ideal. So to have this going on also was really fantastic.”
