Grand County Sheriff H.L. Henderson reads a long list of items included in the sale of the El Monte Best Western Motor Lodge Tuesday morning, April 26, 1977. The Granby lodge was sold by Henderson at a sheriff's sale on the front steps of the courthouse as part of a foreclosure action against the property.

The El Monte Best Western Motor Lodge in Granby was sold Tuesday morning, April 26, 1977, for $460,616.13 at the sheriff’s sale on the front steps of the courthouse in Hot Sulphur Springs.

The lodge was sold to the only sale bidder, Middle Park, Inc., which was the corporation that originally filed the foreclosure action.

The sale was scheduled after Middle Park, Inc. demanded sale of the property because its present operators, Vactionlands, Inc., failed to timely pay the indebtedness on the property as provided by a $435,000 promissory note, a deed of trust and security agreements dated in 1975.

The property was sold as a single unit.
