Those in favor of the Fraser Rec Center please step forward

To the Editor:

After reading all the letters to the editor opposing the farce that is the “Grand Park Rec Center,” I was starting to wonder just who voted in favor of this.

Finally, on Friday Heather Green stepped up to the plate in support of this benefit to our community. I’d like to know which local businesses will be able to afford the rent charged for these retail spaces considering the 30 percent surcharge that is now imposed on them. As far as people deciding to join the rec center while doing a little Saturday afternoon shopping, well that’s quite an expensive impulse purchase.

I do agree that as voters we do have to take responsibility for ourselves. But to state that Mr. Murdock’s statement that he was “poorly informed and inadequately notified” (was disingenuous) is insulting to Mr. Murdock and more so ignorant to the facts surrounding the election.

In closing, I have to wonder if this Miss Green who is so enamored with the development that is Grand Park is the same one who has just purchased a $666,000 condominium at Fraser Crossing/Founders Point. Aren’t these the same guys she accused of taking the money and running? In this “win-win business situation,” who’s winning exactly?
