Tim Schowalter: Documentation of the No Jobs Democrats
To the Editor:John Volp had issues with the lack of documentation on my letter to the editor on Obama, the job destroyer.I might point out that letters to the editor are required to be very short and very few letters provide documentation. I assure Mr. Volp that all my facts are correct and my points are well researched. Here is the documentation if the paper is kind enough to publish them. The jobs lost in the Gulf were reported in Time, newspapers and industry trade journals (E&P for one). HIS Inc., an energy data firm, reported that six months after the Gulf Moratorium was lifted, approved permits were down 85 percent. The Western Energy Alliance has documented the reduced on-shore leasing of federal lands for oil & gas.The closing of the Boeing plant in South Carolina has been a national news story. The Republican Congress passed a bill to allow the plant to open and the no jobs but union jobs, Democrats killed the Senate bill. The costs of the new EPA restrictions on CO2 and mercury have been in the Denver Post and in our local Mountains Parks Electric magazine. You might go in and talk to our local office in Granby about their concerns. The House also passed a bill to stop these new rules but it was also killed in the Senate. The closing of the Colorado Butterball plant due to high feed cost was reported in the Denver Post.Obama’s “no jobs but union jobs” policy for the Stimulus Bill and future federal projects was implemented by his signing an Executive Order on Feb. 6, 2009. That order requires contractors on all federal projects sign a union-only project labor agreement. The fact that union contracts cost more and waste taxpayer’s dollars is common knowledge. The anti-business slant of Obama’s advisers has been documented in newspaper articles and can be readily pulled up on the Internet. I am thankful for this chance to respond, as Obama just killed another 20,000 jobs and 250,000 ancillary jobs by delaying the Canada heavy oil pipeline (International Business Daily). This is totally a political move, as there are already 25,000 miles of pipelines crossing the aquifer with no ground water contamination (Charles Krauthammer, Washington Post).Facts are not vituperation; they are just facts that document how Obama and the Democrats are killing jobs.Tim T.
