Tim T. Schowalter: Labor Unions Control Democratic Party
June 28, 2011
To the Editor:
In Wisconsin, why did Democratic senators abandon their duties and leave the state and why did Obama encourage forced union, government employees to skip work and protest?
The answer is simple: Every elected Democrat in the U.S. is bought and paid for with union campaign money. Check the donation record of every Democrat – from our newly elected state Sen. Jean Nichols to Obama and you will find that their largest contributor is labor unions. Labor unions donate 95 percent of their campaign money to Democrats. What do the unions want for their money? They want to force every worker to join a union.
The National Labor Relation Act of 1935 allowed for forced unionism in the U.S. but left the states to decide for themselves. There are 28 forced union states, including Colorado, and 22 Right to Work States (RTW). In a forced union state you can be forced to join a union and/or pay full union dues to keep your job. In a RTW State, you cannot. However, in RTW States, workers still have the right to organize unions and collective bargain. In Wisconsin, Gov. Walker freed state workers of the tyranny of forced unionism.
I believe forced unionism is morally wrong, as does 80 percent of America. It makes the union bosses unaccountable. Forced Unionism creates an unmotivated and inflexible work force. Forced Unionism bankrupted the auto companies and is about to take down many cities and states. What is the best economic model? The answer is clear. RTW States have the highest real personal income, the highest economic growth rate, and the highest employment rate. RTW States also have highest population growth rate, as people move to RTW states to get jobs.
Obama does Labor Unions’ bidding at every request. He stole bondholder’s money and gave it to the auto unions, he exempted Cadillac union health care plans from taxation in Obamacare and he is about to destroy 1,000 Boeing jobs in RTW South Carolina. He also has dictatorially changed the voting procedures of the Railroad Act of 1951, allowing a minority of workers to vote in a forced union shop. The House passed a bill to stop Obama’s changes and every Democrat voted with Obama to take away your freedoms. As I don’t want to be forced to join a union, I won’t vote for a Democrat.
