Tim T. Schowalter: Sources document liberal media bias
February 28, 2012
To the Editor:
Democracy depends on an informed electorate that gets both sides of the story. The current liberal bias in the media endangers our freedom.
All the major TV news channels, except Fox, have an extreme liberal slant. The same goes for the major news magazines like Time and Newsweek, which recently had a cover story “Why are Obama’s Critics So Dumb?” The major newspapers are also extremely biased, including the Denver Post, which generally has between two to four liberal editorials for every conservative one.
There are several organizations that I would recommend looking up on the Internet for more balanced news coverage. One is the Media Research Center who reported that the mainstream media, including NPR, called the Tea Party racists without one documented quote. On the other hand, there was no coverage at all of the Anti-Semitism rants recorded on video at the Occupy Protest. I might remind you that no one was arrested at any Tea Party Rally and they were called extreme radicals. At the Occupy Rallies there were murders, rapes, drug arrests and property damage and they were called good citizens voicing their opinion.
Another good source of info on the abuses of the Labor Unions is the National Right to Work Committee (NRTWC). They report what the news doesn’t. For example, the Wisconsin Union Protester said they wanted to cut off Governor Walker’s head and carry it around town on a pole. If a conservative said something like that about Obama it would be in the news every day. Another example as reported by Judicial Watch is the fact that Attorney General Eric Holder was caught lying to Congress over when he knew about the guns sales to Mexican drug cartels.
There are lots more examples of how dangerous the mainstream media omissions are. For example, where is the story about the Democrats as the party of NO! The Republican Congress has recently passed over 20 bills to spur the economy and not one has gotten through the Democratic Senate. Where is the story on one of Obama’s main supporters, Teamster Jim Hoffa who was recently found guilty of stealing Teamster dues to pay for his own re-election? Source: NRTWC.
So before this election, I encourage you to question mainstream news stories and not be swayed by the vicious attacks on all Republicans.
