Town of Winter Park invites residents to visioning event Sept. 19

What is your vision for the future of Winter Park? The town wants to know.

The town of Winter Park is inviting residents to take part in a visioning event next week, a planning effort meant to guide the future of the community for the next ten to fifteen years. The event will take place Sept. 19 from 5-8 p.m. at the Winter Park Town Hall.

The meeting is meant to collect resident feedback that will be used for Imagine Winter Park, the updated town plan, to develop policies regarding the town’s future land use, economic development, housing, transportation, public services and more.

“Smart growth and maintaining Winter Park’s character are important to the Town organization, and this master planning effort will help us accomplish those goals,” said Mayor Jimmy Lahrman. “But we also want to make sure our citizens have a say in the community’s future, which is why public feedback is so valuable throughout this process. We want to create a place that people enjoy living and working in.”

The last town plan was completed in 2006 and has been used over the last decade to evaluate policies, projects, and update town codes as the town grew and the community evolved.

The project team began development of a new town plan in July by conducting interviews with key stakeholders and the steering committee, and is now reaching out to the public in a series of discussions and online surveys. Opportunities to participate in the planning online will be available after the 19th.
