Trial opens in kidnap, rape of Greeley murder witness

GREELEY, Colo. (AP) – Trial is under way for a Greeley man charged with kidnapping and raping a witness in a murder case and trying to hire someone to kill her.

Twenty-two-year-old Christian Hanson faces charges of kidnapping, sexual assault, conspiracy to commit murder and solicitation to commit murder.

The Greeley Tribune reports the alleged victim was a witness in an upcoming murder trial.

She told police she was pulled from her car in December and forced into another car, where one man held a gun on her while others sexually assaulted her with a foreign object and beat her.

Hanson was arrested after the woman identified him in police lineup.

Prosecutors say Hanson tried to hire an undercover officer posing as a hit man to kill the woman.
