West Grand opened the first round of district play with a convincing 56-34 win over Vail Mountain in Kremmling on Tuesday evening. The Mustangs will be hosting the district tournament on Friday and Saturday. West Grand (6-4 league, 13-7 overall) will face Hayden (8-2 league, 14-6 overall) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have split their meetings earlier this season with West Grand winning 68-55 at home in January and Hayden winning 61-55 in Hayden earlier this month.

The West Grand Lady Mustangs lost to Rangely 52-32 in the first round of the district playoffs in Rangely on Tuesday to end their season.
