Tuesday’s power outage short-lived in Three Lakes area

Lightning knocked out a Western Area Power Authority transmission line around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27, cutting power from Granby to Mary’s Lake near Estes Park, according to Mountain Parks Electric, Inc. officials.

The downed transmission line also knocked out power to two substations in the area, though Mountain Parks Electric employees had power turned back on by 9:50 p.m.
