U.S. Sen. Udall’s brother dies while hiking in Wyoming

Sky-Hi News staff

After an intensive six-day search, the body of hiker James Randy Udall, the brother of U.S. Sen. Mark Udall, was found in a remote area of the Wind River Range of Wyoming on July 3.

At about 2 p.m., an aerial search team found him in open/rolling terrain laying on his side, according to statements from Sublette County Sheriff Dave Lankford.

Foul play is not suspected, according to statements; an autopsy will be performed in Loveland, Colo., at the request the family. “Randy left this earth doing what he loved most: hiking in his most favorite mountain range in the world,” states a press release issued by the Udall family. “He appeared to be on the obscure, off-trail route that he had proposed to his family. The entire Udall family is touched beyond words by the tremendous outpouring of support from people around the country. Randy’s passing is a reminder to all of us to live every day to its fullest, just as he did.”
