University of Colorado scientist to brief Copenhagen climate talks

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) – A University of Colorado scientist will be in Copenhagen for international climate talks.

The university says professor Waleed Abdalati will give a talk on the his research on Arctic ice and the rapidly changing Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets. Other professors and CU staffers will be observing the conference.

The conference of 192 nations opens Monday.

Several from Colorado will be there, including Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper. The mayor will talk about mass transit on a trip funded by the federal government.

Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter has sent a climate adviser to the meeting.
