Editor’s note: This story has been updated with additional information from East Grand Fire Chief Todd Holzworth.
The East Grand Fire Protection District responded to a structure fire in Fraser at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29. The home at 300 Hay Meadow Drive was under construction and not occupied. The structure was part of a block of four townhomes that are currently under construction in Grand Park.
East Grand Fire responded with several engines and vehicles and was assisted by Grand Fire with a ladder engine.
East Grand Fire Chief Todd Holzworth said the townhome was mostly a shell with nothing inside to feed the fire. It took fire personnel about 15 minutes to put the fire out, he said.
Holzworth said the townhomes have fire-resistant walls in between each unit to prevent fires from spreading to other buildings. The remaining three townhomes were unscathed except for some smoke, he added.

According to Holzworth, none of the homes have been sold and are owned by Grand Park.
The Fraser Winter Park Police Department and Grand County EMS also responded to the call.
“We have requested assistance from an outside agency to help with determining the cause and origin of the fire,” Fraser Winter Park Police Chief Glen Trainor wrote in an email.
The Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control will assist with the investigation.
