US Forest Service in Granby seeks volunteers

The Sulphur Ranger District of the Arapaho National Forests is seeking volunteers to help staff the office visitor center and assist customers with their recreational questions.

An volunteer information meeting is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 27 at the Sulphur Ranger Station at 9 Ten Mile Drive, Granby.

At the meeting Forest Service employees will orient potential volunteers to the district and discuss the front desk operations, volunteer duties and available shifts. Volunteer shifts typically are four hours in length, either in the morning, midday or afternoon, Monday through Friday.

Volunteers perform crucial work and serve a diverse group of people visiting Grand County. We are looking for volunteers who are familiar with the area, enjoy recreating in the national forest and other public lands and like sharing information about the opportunities available in the county. The more we help visitors understand about the recreation opportunities and the resources of the area, the more they will appreciate and take care of them.

If you can’t make the meeting, please contact John Simmons at the Sulphur Ranger District Office to learn more about this volunteer opportunity.
