USFS bird count set for Dec. 17
The U.S. Forest Service’s Sulphur Ranger District will coordinate its 10th annual Christmas Bird Count with the National Audubon Society on Saturday, Dec. 17.
Using volunteers, the survey covers a 15-mile diameter around the Granby area and collects population data on the area’s resident birds.
Bird counters can choose to participate by motor vehicle, skis or snowshoes, and all birding skill levels are welcome. Those who live within the count area may also volunteer to count birds that visit home feeders or counting birds visible from public roads on the day of the count.
To participate or contribute, contact wildlife biologist Brock McCormick at 970-887-4108 or email email@example.com.
