BROOMFIELD, Colo. (AP) – Vail Resorts Inc. says skier visits at its five resorts this season were up 2.5 percent from last season, after a strong spring.

The company said Monday that skier visits during the quarter that ended April 30 rose 4.6 percent from last season to about 3.2 million. The company finished the season with about 6 million skier visits at its Vail, Breckenridge, Keystone and Beaver Creek resorts in Colorado and Heavenly in California.

CEO Rob Katz says brisk business during the spring break and Easter periods helped boost Vail Resorts’ third-quarter profit 18 percent from the same time a year ago.
