Sky-Hi staff report news@skyhinews.com

Skiers and riders have one more thing to be thankful for today with the opening of Mary Jane for the 2018-19 season.

Those celebrating Janesgiving feasted on an additional 130 acres of open terrain and with up to 17 inches of snow forecast through Saturday night, more trails will certainly be opening throughout the next few days, according to resort officials.

It’s the earliest that the Jane territory has been open since 2010 and only the fifth Thanksgiving that the Mary Jane territory has been open for.

Eager skiers and boarders graced the slopes of the Mary Jane territory on its opening day Thursday, Nov. 22.

The Mary Jane Trail and Arrowhead Loop opened Thursday with service from Super Gauge Express, Iron Horse, and Pony Express lifts.

In the Winter Park territory, upper portions of White Rabbit, Jabberwocky, and Cheshire Cat will be open, as will the Hi-Lonesome Express lift and its corresponding trails.

With the additional 126 acres of Jane territory, the resort will have a total of over 250 acres open. The resort opened on Nov. 14 with 55 acres of terrain in the Winter Park territory and opened another 46 acres the following Saturday.

The first chair lifts as the Mary Jane territory opens at Winter Park Resort on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018.
