Voting for change for its own sake can make things worse

To the Editor:

Whoa there, Ms. Cook from Tabernash. I’m a life-long Republican, patriotic, hard-working, gun-toting, church-going, ranch “kid” from way back. Yes, there’s certainly a mess going on with Bush as president, supported by a Democratic congress and starting under the previous administration. But I’m NOT voting for Obama for reasons too many to name.

Some of that is because each time in the past 100-plus years that there’s been a downturn in the economy, there’s been some slick-talking individual who appears from out of nowhere to advocate change. Among them are Mussolini, Stalin, Lenin, Tojo, Hitler. And what change they brought. Is that the kind of change we’ll get this time? No, thanks. I won’t take the chance.

Believe it or not, even with change, or perhaps more significantly, with the wrong kind of change, things can get worse.
