Ward announces candidacy for surveyor

Warren Ward will seek nomination to the Republican Party ballot for surveyor. Ward began surveying in Grand County in 1971, at the age of 11. He graduated from West Grand High School in 1978, and has attended the University of Northern Colorado, Fort Lewis College, and Metro State University in Denver.

He is a past president of the National and State Associations of County Surveyors, as well as the Professional Land Surveyors of Colorado. He currently is the Colorado Delegate to the National Society of Professional Surveyors.

Ward has authored, and co-authored, several state laws that will benefit small counties in the world of property boundaries, surveying and boundary dispute resolution. Ward has been invited to lecture surveyors in eight states, and recently returned from his second speaking engagement in Springfield, Illinois, special because Abraham Lincoln once worked as a county surveyor there before going into politics.

Ward says he is proud to have served as a county surveyor in a place like Grand County. “Government surveyors are an integral part of the very story of America. We are bit a high profile profession, but a very necessary profession to a free society, and I have never once taken my fortune of having a career in such a great county for granted,” he said.
